A Fox or Two

"Well, how can you ever expect to be a pastor who can teach on sin and suffering if you've never had a vegetable garden?" - Dave Foote, Landlord.

I had just told him of my horror upon finding a small mound of dirt and a dilapidated garlic plant on its side. I knew it when I saw it: a gopher had struck the vegetable garden, even if they are supposed to be inactive in the winter.

I had planned ahead, though, and had gopher traps ready for this very event. When I went down to set the traps, though, I found something far more terrible than a dead garlic plant: the clove it came from! The gopher hadn't even eaten the garlic! He only decapitated it and left it to rot! What senseless destruction!

One day, though, God will wipe every tear away, and hopefully destroy every gopher. Maybe.

cursed is the ground because of you;
in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;

you shall eat bread,
till you return to the ground,
for out of it you were taken;
for you are dust,
and to dust you shall return.”
