A couple weeks ago, Marijke and I took a five-day trip to Portland. She had never been there and so I had a really fun time showing her around. We stayed with our good friends Joel and Sarah, who I met while living there.

On our first day there, we ate at the Grilled Cheese Grill, a restaurant stand with various kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches. The seating is inside a school bus with a psychedelically painted ceiling:

Marijke and I went on many walks through Joel and Sarah's neighborhood:
Daffodils abounded in nearly every front yard:
Perhaps our favorite part of the trip was our spree through Powell's Books. Powell's is the size of a city block. Here, Marijke is browsing their selection of PG Wodehouse novels. We also bought The Collected Winnie the Pooh, The Wind in the Willows, War and Peace, and a biography of Elizabeth I.
